Description*:
MEJIPE (MJ), Northern Chile
Abstract:
The MEJIPE seismic network is located on the Mejillones peninsula in Northern Chile. It was operated between June 2013 and October 2015 and consisted of about 20 short period, 3-component seismometers of type Mark L4-1Hz. The data recording was continuous at a sample rate of 100Hz. The principal aim of the MEJIPE network was to monitor local (micro) seismicity and to provide a high-resolution image of the shallow part of the South American subduction zone beneath Mejillones in Northern Chile. About 3000 local seismic events have been detected and located. Waveform data are available from the GEOFON data centre, under network code 8G.
